A month has passed since the big TTC shakeups so I thought it would be a good time to look at how each affiliation has fared in rated singles events during this time:
That’s a nice number of events isn’t it?
Webs to the suprise of no-one still reign supreme.
Inhumas at #2 is rather unexpected though.
Both new Asgard leaders appear to be problematic with above 60% win rates. If Thor wouldn’t drag them down they’d be the new top dog.
The nerf to MHFC wasn’t active for the full time and it appears to have taken a bit off of HFC but the bigger loss was probably Age of Ultron. They are still very good overall nonetheless.
Defenders continue being pushed up by their new releases to be a Top 5 affiliation. Even Doctor Strange leadership (props to anyone who brought it to a rated event) has increased a bit.
Winter Guard is another suprise entry in the top 6. They do love Namor there so he might be the one helping them out.
Hydra hasn’t been super popular but extremely efficient under Red Skull. Not do much under Baron Strucker who lost his favourite TTC (Kick em).
Guardians aren’t at the top anymore but at a very healthy 51% win rate.
Spider-Foes are shockingly better under Green Goblin at the moment. They got a big boost through Electro, Shocker, the TTCs and to a lesser extent Sandman. Vulture is also a playable model in this game.
X-Force actually do better with the double nerf than they did before the rotation. More targets on the midline appears to be a net positive for the punchy claw people.
Untypically low numbers for both games played and win rate for Sam. Core Set 1 Steve seems the way to go for Avengers at the moment.
MODOK is the statistical best overall leader (25 or more games played) for the month. You had that on their bingo card?
Was the buff to Online and Operational really enough to get Sentinels out of the bottom of the standings? It looks like it so far.
Wakanda is actually dragged down by Black Panther leadership, while M’Baku and Killmonger, Usurper show that the loss of Advanced RnD isn’t the end of the world for the affiliation.
Weapon X has their typical low number of games but did decent in them.
Pretty even spread in usage but very different spread of win rate for the three X-Men leaders leads to a mediocre 16th spot. Storm X-Men are a top team though.
Convocation certainly feels the nerf to Iron Bound Books and the loss of Age of Ultron but haven completely fallen of a cliff.
Black Order isn’t too far from being 50% which better than they were before the rotation.
Dormammu does OK despite the loss of Smash. He enables a lot of safe grabs with his leadership that other faction lost so that could help somewhat.
The meta boogyman list of Master of the World with MS Thanos seems to have taken either a dip in efficiency or, more likely, more people are trying it out and not have the reps with it yet. Malekith was pretty dominant in the 20 games he played, getting to the best overall win rate of any leader who had at least 10 games.
In the combination of Namor and Steve Rogers the Invaders was the most used SHIELD leadership. It did OK. Fury was back to being the most effective leader for them and iTony has dipped almost 20% down.
Most of us had Midnight Sons as the big winners of the rotation. It doesn’t seem to work out great for them so far.
A-Force needs help at this point. Either a slight defensive buff for She-Hulk (4/4/4 defenses for example) or a second leadership.
And now for the biggest shock. Brotherhood of Mutants fall all the way to the absolute bottom of the list. And it is not even a bit close. 35% for the faction and just 29% for Magneto. This is worse than Sentinels pre rotation. It will be very interesting so see if these mutants can make a comeback anytime soon.
Priority definitely seems to have gotten more important. It isn’t in the problematic area of 58%+ but definitely has an effect.
19 threat was the most played during the month. Very unusual.
We have 649 MCT coded lists we can look at:
Baron Zemo is the most used character overall. It doesn’t really come as a surprise as he’s among the best threat for threat characters in the game. Wong climbing all the way to top 2 is definitely interesting. Black Cat and Rhino on 3 and 4 was expected. Shang-Shi has a major impact after his release making top 5 from the get go. Bullseye, Toad and Crimson Dynamo are auto includes in their affiliations and universally good splashes on top of that so no suprise to see them in the top 10. And then it’s Namor who makes top 10 after release.
Bill dropped all the way down to: 11. He never needed Eyes on the Prize to be great in the first place but has a bit more competition for his role now with the card gone.
Luke Cage, SSM, Miles and Black Widow (2 threat) round out the top 15. None of them really a suprise.
Electro is still very popular for a newer model and Doctor Voodoo seem to have a bit of a resurgence.
Mysterio is pretty popular at the moment all of Chosen of Bast, Gwenom, Shocker and Silver Sable have good showings for pretty new models. Ultron 2 dropped off heavily in usage which was to be expected. Thanos is rather popular, sometimes in very unusual Gem combinations and twice even with just one Gem.
Hero Thor and Loki 2 who only came out at the half way point of the month already reached the top 60. We will see them a lot in the near future (in my games for example as I’ll play Asgard in 75% of my games until the German GT in February and can finally pick up my box tomorrow morning ⚡).
People seem to start to come around on Bishop more now. Kitty and Iceman also both prove to be useful tools to have in the list. 27 Heimdalls definitely is unexpected, explainable with the rise of Asgard but he doesn’t seem great under the two new leaderships either…
Only 21 uses makes Jane the least popular character of the new Asgard box but that’s still quite a lot considering she could only be played for two of the four weeks.
5 Mind Loki’s isn’t something I would’ve predicted to be present. Magneto also wasn’t super popular but as we saw above also not very effective so that could have something to do with each other.
As expected Fall Back takes second place after Brace which continues to be in basically every roster. Only about half the rosters opting for it is a bit surprising though. Patch Up and Sacrifice are the usual other restricted picks with Indomitable being rather unpopular (falsely in my opinion but what do I know 🤷🏽).
Recal as a good unaffiliated TTC makes over a third of rosters and Heroes for Hire remains the most used character specific card. This is a Robbery remains very popular showing its nerf was fair and needed and doesn’t make the card bad in any way. Chi Mastery for Shang-Chi is really really popular even just edging out I am. Baron afterall which should be in your 10 if you bring either Zemo.
Some events appear to have been roster locked before the rotation as we see some cards here that aren’t in the game anymore.
Happy gaming and cheers from Germany 🍻
